Competition Check: New Chevrolet Sail vs. Competitors

The Chevrolet Sailing should bring more sales with the Sailing U-VA hatchback twin.As a replacement for the AVEO twin, the Sail and Sail U-VA didn't actually set the sales charts as expected.In an attempt to inject more interest in cars, Chevrolet is introducing a facelift for the Sailing sedan and a sailing-frame hatchback.New Sail sedan gets chrome highlighted fog lights, black B-Pillars, new dual cockpit design with black beige interior, new leatherette upholstery, new ice blue backlighting, silver/chrome highlights in The cabin and the new highlight 2-DIN music system support Bluetooth.

The sail will have the same engine options - a 1.3-liter SDE Smartech turbo diesel and a 1.2-liter Smartech Petrol engine.The diesel engine produces 75ps of maximum power at 4,000rpm and 190Nm of peak torque at 1,750rpm, while the petrol engine runs out of 83.6ps at 6,000rpm and 108.5Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm.Fuel Efficiency PS for diesel and petrol engines of 22.1 kmpl and 18.2 kmpl respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire

Its segment king Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has been strong.While a compact sedan, it doesn't have much boot talk, but it won't stop people from ditching it.The Swift Dzire comes with two engine options - a petrol and a diesel.The petrol Dzire is pumped by a 1.2-litre engine with 87 PS at 6000rpm and 75 ps at 4000 rpm with a maximum torque of 190Nm at 2000 rpm.Both engines are offered with a 5-speed manual transmission, while a 4-speed automatic is also available as an option for the petrol.Petrol Dzire returns a fuel economy of 19.1 kmpl for the manual and 17.4 kmpl for the automatic version, while the diesel offers 23.4 kmpl.No worries, Dzire still enjoys the top spot.

Honda is amazing

Honda's first diesel for India, startlingly bewildered, is a runaway rollout.The car has been sold in a Lakh unit and represents the success of the car.Honda has an amazing choice of petrol and diesel engines.The petrol shock is powered by a 1.2-litre engine with a maximum power of 88 PS and a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic transmission at 6000 rpm and 4500 rpm peak torque.The all-important diesel amazing amaze comes with a 1.5 liter engine pumping out a maximum power-carrying 100 ps at 3600 rpm above 3600 rpm, a maximum torque of 200 cm, and only a 5-speed manual transmission.While the petrol amaze offers a fuel efficiency of 18.0 kmpl and 15.5 kmpl for the manual and automatic versions respectively, the diesel will return a staggering 25.8 kmpl for the front pin.The Diesel Amazingly Amazing also gets EBD standard on all variants.Honda's amazing packaging Honda's brand credibility, huge space and amazing performance make it a noteworthy contestant.

Hyundai Xcent.

The modern accent has a big run and is almost at the end of its path.The Hyundai Grand succeeded with the Grand i10 and one based on this was an obvious next step.Enter rotation instead of focus.Hyundai Xcent comes with first-of-its-kind features in multiple segments, such as rear AC vents, smart key, push-button start, rear parking camera and sensors, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, 1 GB memory, auto-folding mirrors, electrochromic mirrors And one touch electric trunk opens.The Xcent will have two engine options - a 1.1-litre 2nd-generating U2 CRDI diesel and a 1.2-litre kappa dual-vtvt petrol.The petrol lap produces 83 ps of maximum power at 6000rpm and 114nm of peak torque at 4000rpm, while the diesel lap delivers 72ps @ 4000rpm at 1750-2500 rpm and 180nm.The petrol engine is available with a 5-speed manual (19.1 kmpl fuel efficiency) and a 4-speed automatic, while the diesel is only available with a 5-speed manual.The Hyundai Xcent, again like all other Hyundai cars, comes as a better package with loads of features.

Toyota ETIO.

ETIOS is a sailboat from Toyota to Chevrolet.The TOIOS twins were Toyota's first foray into the mass division, and it didn't pan out as expected.Toyota ETIOS also gets a lineup of petrol and diesel engines.The petrol is a 1.5 litre engine making 90 ps at 5600 rpm and 132nm of torque at 3000 rpm, while the diesel is a 1.4 litre engine making 68 ps at 3800rpm and 170Nm of peak torque at 1800-2400 rpm.Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, with the petrol engine offering 16.78 kmpl and the diesel 23.59 kmpl.Huge space and Toyota reliability make for good pointers, but the cheap interior build and finish is against it.

Mahindra Verito.

The Verito, the only sedan from the Mahindra lineup, has been very successful, at least in the commercial market.Again, there is the Verito available in petrol and diesel versions.The petrol verito uses the 1.4-litre engine to swap out 76 ps at 3000 rpm at 3500 rpm and 110Nm of torque, while restoring fuel economy.And the diesel Verito is the favourite of the two, getting a 1.5-litre engine making 66 ps at 4000rpm and 160Nm of torque at 2000rpm.Both are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and the diesel Verito returns a fuel economy of 21.03 kmpl.The Mahindra Verito has enormous space and ride quality, but here again Lightluster Mareing keeps people away.
