Honda unveils Civic Type R Concept II

The Japanese manufacturer Honda was more popular ahead of the Paris Motor Show as it made its public debut.According to the manufacturer, the car will "offer unparalleled performance compared to previous R cars" including "Integra, Accord and even NSX".The concept model that will go into the production model comes with a four-pot, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that makes 276 BHP (280 ps).

Inside Honda, the Honda Civic Type R Concept II boasts a new Sportsman's steering wheel with an installed '+r' button, enhanced engine and steering response, and a four-point adaptive damping system.While more details are still in the package, the Type R also gets a "steering axle" system with two additional "homes" in the front suspension.

According to the manufacturer, the new "steering axle" system minimizes torque steer and allows "the driver to take full advantage of the car's excellent driving abilities".The Honda Civic Type R will be offered first for the European market, and as such, the model will be built in the UK.

Suehiro Hasshi, large-scale project leader for the Civic Type R, said, "In default standard mode, the Civic Type R is a very agile, everyday sports car with pleasant and smooth acceleration."
