Jidu started the first car mass production mold casting

On May 25, Jidu CEO Xia Yiping announced the latest progress in car manufacturing. Jidu engineering team has started mass production mold casting work. Jidu's first automotive robot mass production car officially moved from model design to mass production preparation stage.

Xia Yiping said that in the process of die casting, in order to make the futuristic design in the design plan to be presented in mass production, the Jidu engineering team has carried out a lot of technical research on the molding process, and achieved an engineering breakthrough of super large stamping depth.

The very futuristic design refers to the shape curve of the side wall outer panel of the mass-produced car of the Jidu Auto Robot, with a forming depth of nearly 300mm.Usually only used in supercars, this undulating design has a distinctive curvaceous appearance.

The side wall outer plate mold has always been the most difficult and largest component mold in the manufacture of body-in-white. It is extremely difficult to restore the shape and posture similar to a super sports car under the mass production process.The Jidu engineering team optimized the side wall forming process, realized the iteration and transcendence of the engineering capability of the largest body part forming technology, and formed a set of domestic leading side wall forming depth process optimization methods with independent intellectual property rights, reaching the top level in the industry.

Starting from mold casting, Jidu will successively start a series of physical manufacturing tasks such as casting machining, assembly, R&D and debugging, prototype production, and quality optimization, and develop automotive robots at the most efficient pace to ensure market delivery in 2023.

By optimizing the car manufacturing process, Jidu continues to maintain the high quality and high efficiency of automotive robot research and development.As a start-up company, on the 101st day of its establishment, the clay model was successfully unveiled.On the 207th day, Jidu developed the functions of smart cockpit and smart driving based on the collaboration between SIMUCar1.0 and Baidu Apollo team.On the 364th day, Jidu SIMUCar2.0 was iteratively upgraded to realize the complete integration of intelligent driving, intelligent cabin and JET architecture, run through the automatic driving functions in urban and high-speed areas, and open the integration of parking areas.On the 450th day, Jidu started mass production mold casting, and entered the preparation stage for mass production.

Jidu's first car robot concept car ROBO-01 will be released on June 8 in Baidu Metaverse "Xiyang".
