Ford invests $3.7 billion in U.S. expansion, adding more than 6,200 jobs

On June 2, Ford announced that it will invest $3.7 billion in Michigan, Ohio and Missouri, adding more than 6,200 union manufacturing jobs and adding nearly 3,000 UAW-Ford jobs. Temporary employees are converted to permanent full-time employees, and medical benefits are provided to all hourly workers on their first day of employment.

Ford will invest $2 billion in Michigan and add 3,200 union jobs.Among them, Ford will add nearly 2,000 jobs at three assembly plants in Michigan to increase annual production of the new F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck at the Rouge Electric VehicleCenter in Dearbornto 150,000 vehicles and in The new Ranger pickup is built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, and the new Mustang coupe is built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant.

Ford will invest $35 million in a new Ford Customer Service packaging facility in Monroe, Michigan, and create more than 600 union jobs.The facility is expected to begin operations in 2024 to expedite the delivery of parts to Ford customers.The investment is included in Ford's total investment in Michigan.

Ford will invest $1.5 billion and create 1,800 jobs in an Ohio assembly plant to begin assembling an all-new electric commercial vehicle around 2025.In addition, Ford will invest $100 million in the Lima Engine and Sharonville Transmission plants and create 90 new jobs.

Ford will invest $95 million in an assembly plant in Kansas City, Missouri, and provide 1,100 union jobs, to increase production of its best-selling U.S. commercial van, the Transit, and the all-new E-Transit electricvan.

Backed by a $3.7 billion investment, the new UAW-Ford manufacturing jobs are expected to add about 74,000 indirect non-Ford jobs in the U.S., according to a Boston Consulting Group (BCG) study.

Ford's investment and jobs program will support the Ford+ strategy.By the end of 2026, Ford will produce 2 million electric vehicles a year globally with the Ford Model e, while strengthening the company's lineup of Ford Blue gasoline-powered vehicles."We are investing in U.S. jobs and employees to build the next generation of Ford vehicles and continue the Ford+ transformation program," said Jim Farley, Ford President and CEO.

Ford also plans to invest $1 billion over the next five years to continuously improve the work experience for manufacturing employees.Potential improvements include better provision of healthy food, installation of new electric vehiclecharging pointsin factory parking lots , and improved parking lot lighting.Ford's improvements will vary from plant to plant, with more to come.
