According to foreign media reports, Polestar will release the Polestar 3 flagship SUV in October, expanding the number of models of the brand to three.
Polestar will begin deliveries of the Polestar 3, a crossover similar in size to the Porsche Cayenne, in Europe and the United States early next year. The company expects to sell 24,000 Polestar 3s next year, rising to 67,000 in 2024 and 77,000 in 2025.
Ahead of the official unveiling of the new car, Polestar posted a video along with the first uncamouflaged image of the midsize crossover.Unlike the current Volvo-inspired Polestar 2 sedan, the Polestar 3 features new design elements, including a sloping profile and headlight and taillight styling that differentiates it from other Polestar models.

Earlier this year, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said in an interview: "Polestar aims to be more sporty, more driver-focused (compared to Volvo models that also use the new SPA2 architecture) Experience. Even an SUV like the Polestar 3 will use a more rounded profile, which means it will place less emphasis on space and more on power. It will also use a bolder design.”
Polestar plans to equip the new model with the relevant hardware and electronics to enable autonomous highway driving by around 2025, including Luminar's lidar sensors and Nvidia's computer electronics components. The sensors will be housed in the so-called Smart Zone, a transparent panel on the Polestar 3's front grille.
The Polestar 3 will use a new all-electric platform, the SPA2, developed by Volvo for its next-generation car, designed with dual electric motors and with an estimated range of 600 kilometers under European WLTP conditions. After receiving technical regulatory approval, the new platform will also provide hands-free autonomous driving capabilities.
The Polestar 3 is key to Polestar's goal of growing global sales 10-fold to about 290,000 vehicles by 2025.Polestar plans to launch a new car every year for the next three years, starting with the Polestar 3, and aims to expand its operations to at least 30 global markets by the end of 2023.
Polestar has yet to announce pricing for the Polestar 3, which will be built at Volvo Cars' plants in Charleston, South Carolina, and Chengdu, China.
