2022 HYCAN Z03 rolls off production line at GAC Motor-HYCAN joint plant in Hangzhou

On June 6, HYCAN, a Chinese EV innovator backed by GAC Group and NIO, saw its second mass-produced model, the Z03, roll off the production line at the plant of GAC Motor (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., signifying major headway in HYCAN’s global deployment that integrates R&D, production, and sales, the startup announced via its WeChat account.

The HYCAN Z03 hit the market in October 2021 with four trim levels offered. In April this year, its refreshed version, the 2022 Z03, went on sale with post-subsidy prices ranging from 132,800 yuan ($19,920) to 178,800 yuan ($26,815).

The 2022 Z03 manufactured at the Hangzhou facility features a wheelbase that spans up to 2,750mm. All trim levels of the model come standard with a 14.6-inch high-definition touchscreen and the front-bench seats that can be folded flat. Equipped with the “Magazine” battery, the BEV model features a range of 620km. Besides, the 2022 Z03 is expected to appeal to tech-savvy consumers with its smart voice control system, the HYCAN Pilot L2+ driver assistance system, and other intelligence features.

According to HYCAN, the automaker has so far accumulated over 30,000 orders of the 2022 Z03.

Previously known as a wholly-owned subsidiary of GAC Motor, GAC Motor (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., is currently 51/49 held by GAC Motor and HYCAN, according to the corporate infomation inquiry platform Tianyancha.

After completion of the one-month retooling works, the Hangzhou-based plant now has a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year and allows both oil-fueled vehicles and all-electric vehicles to be built on the joint production lines.

HYCAN unveiled the CONCEPT-S and the CONCEPT-M at the 2021 Auto Guangzhou in last November. The mass-produced models based on the aforesaid two concepts models, as well as a new full-electric MPV will be introduced to the Hangzhou car manufacturing plant in the future.
