According to foreign media reports, researchers at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom have successfully developed a new high-density solid-state lithium-ion battery, which improves the life and stability of solid-state lithium-ion batteries.Its robust shape reduces the risk of short circuits, allowing for wider use in the future.

Dr Yunlong Zhao from the University of Surrey's Institute of Advanced Technology explained: "We've all heard that lithium-ion batteries often rupture their casings in transport environments due to exposure to stressful environments such as extremes. Our research demonstrates that it is possible to produce A more robust solid-state lithium-ion battery can be developed. The battery could provide a promising approach as a high-energy and safe future model for practical applications such aselectric vehicles."
Using state-of-the-art national facilities at the University of Surrey's Ion Beam Centre, the research team implanted xenon ions into ceramic oxide materials to create solid-state electrolytes.The team found that their method created a battery electrolyte with a 30-fold improvement in lifespan compared to batteries not infused with the ceramic oxide material.
Study co-author Dr Nianhua Peng of the University of Surrey said: "We are becoming more and more aware of the harm that humans are doing to the environment. It is hoped that our batteries and methods will advance the science of high-energy batteries, which will eventually lead us into a more sustainable future."
