SAIC Motor's May sales rose 1.2 times month-on-month, and two subsidiaries in the passenger car segment ushered in positive growth

In June, with the full unblocking of Shanghai and various policy stimulus, its sales are expected to increase again.

Specifically, two of the three major passenger car companies under SAIC Group returned to positive growth in May, namely SAIC-GM and SAIC Passenger Vehicles.Among them, SAIC-GM sold 83,000 vehicles in May, a year-on-year increase of 3.34%.However, due to the heavy loss of sales in April, SAIC-GM's sales in the first five months of this year still fell by 23.22%.

At present, SAIC-GM is making every effort to transform into new energy. The Cadillac Lyriq Ruige, the first product based on the "Aoteneng" platform, has announced the price, and the rear-drive version will be delivered in the third quarter of this year.In addition, the Buick brand also released the Electra-X, a pure electric concept SUV based on the Autoneng platform.With the arrival of electrified models of the Autoneng platform, SAIC-GM is fully embracingelectrification, which will also help increase its competitiveness in the new energy market.

SAIC Motor's passenger car sales also returned to positive growth in May, and it is the largest passenger car subsidiary of SAIC Group.Data show that SAIC passenger car sales in May exceeded 70,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 33.02%.At this stage, while accelerating the electrification transformation, SAIC Motor is also committed to innovating its fuel vehicles. For example, the Roewe RX5, the main sales model, will launch the third-generation version this year.Recently, the new third-generation Roewe RX5 mass-produced car has been rolled off the production line at SAIC Nanjing Plant. The upgraded third-generation model has improved in design, intelligent configuration and dynamic performance.

SAIC Motor's MG brand continued its hot sales momentum in overseas markets in May. Its MGZS, MG eHS, MG5 EV, etc. performed well in Europe, and it has won the top ten in the market segments of many countries.With the help of the MG brand, SAIC passenger car export sales in May reached 45,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 165.6% and a record high.Recently, SAIC also released the MG MULAN based on the "Nebula" pure electric system platform. In the future, such models will form the main global camp of SAIC with ZS and HS.With the addition of new models, SAIC's overseas performance is expected to continue to strengthen.

SAIC Volkswagen sold 87,000 vehicles in May, down 20.54% year-on-year.Compared with April, SAIC Volkswagen's production and sales have rebounded significantly, but due to the low operating rate of its factories in Shanghai in May,production capacityand sales are still curbed.

It is understood that SAIC Volkswagen's Anting plant has resumed production in May with three plants, namely Plant No. 2, Plant No. 3 and MEB, and all three plants operate in a single shift. The daily production capacity of the MEB plant is about 400 vehicles, and the overall production capacity is restored. to nearly 50% of pre-pandemic levels.This also means that the capacity utilization rate of SAIC Volkswagen's Anting plant still has more room for improvement. This situation will be further improved in June with the overall improvement in the resumption of production in Shanghai.

SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 100,000 vehicles in May, down 20% year-on-year.As the subsidiary of SAIC Group that was least affected by the epidemic, SAIC-GM-Wuling's sales performance in the past two months has been relatively stable. At present, it is still A00-class electric vehicles that drive its sales growth.Statistics from the Passenger Federation show that SAIC-GM-Wuling's new energy vehicle sales in May were 37,000 units, ranking second among new energy passenger vehicle companies.However, due to factors such as production capacity and the price increase of pureelectric vehicles, the delivery volume of Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, the main product of SAIC-GM-Wuling, has declined to a certain extent, which is also one of the main reasons for the year-on-year decline in its overall sales.

In May, the overall performance of SAIC's commercial vehicle segment was not strong. Except for SAIC Zhengda, SAIC Maxus and Nanjing Iveco all experienced declines to varying degrees.This also means that due to the impact of the epidemic, the progress of logistics and various projects is still in the recovery stage.

Overall, SAIC Motor's sales in May rebounded significantly compared with April, and its new energy and overseas sales performance remained good.In May, itsnew energy vehiclesales were 71,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 56.6%.Next, as Zhiji, Feifan, and SAIC-GM Autoneng platform models join the delivery camp, SAIC's new energy vehicle sales are expected to further increase.To this end, SAIC Motor has set a target of 1.1 million new energy vehicle sales this year.

Overseas sales are also a strength of SAIC. In the first five months of this year, its cumulative overseas sales were close to 300,000 vehicles.At present, SAIC's own brand has ranked among the top 10 single-brand sales in 18 countries around the world.This year, SAIC Motor will strive to exceed the 800,000-unit mark in overseas sales, and will achieve annual sales of more than 100,000 units in the European market.
