Apple released a new generation of CarPlay, why not Tesla and BMW?

However, it is worth noting that there are still some brands that have not yet participated, such as BMW, Tesla, etc.In fact, BMW's relationship with Apple CarPlay has always been nuanced.Earlier, it was reported that in order to solve the problem of the continuous shortage of chips, BMW changed chip suppliers to ensure production. Due to the incompatibility of the new suppliers' chips, BMW's recently delivered new cars temporarily lacked support for Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.

However, the company eventually changed its mind, supporting CarPlay on certain models in 2016, and then BMW adopted a subscription fee of $80 a year to use the service, which was eventually eliminated.Separately, BMW said in a statement to The Verge that it still needs to evaluate an announcement on how to integrate Apple's CarPlay functionality.

Products under the Tesla brand have never supported Apple CarPlay, mainly because Tesla, as a technology company, wrote its own software for its in-vehicle infotainment system.
