The lithium-ion battery developed by Enovix uses a 100% active silicon anode and uses a patented 3D battery architecture that increases energy density and maintains high cycle life.Enovix uses proprietary laser patterning and high-speed stacking tools to replace electrode windings in standard pouched lithium-ion battery production, resulting in a 30 percent increase in line MWh capacity.
Harrold Rust, co-founder, CEO and president of Enovix, said: "Fast charging capabilities can accelerate the mass adoption of electric vehicles, and we have been able to demonstrate a level of performance that meets and exceeds the roadmaps of many OEMs. Electric vehicle manufacturers continue to seek Batteries with longer ranges are supported, while the public and private sectors are working to increase access to fast chargers for EV drivers. We are proud to support these goals and helpelectrifythe automotive industry .”

Ashok Lahiri, co-founder and CTO of Enovix, said: "Our unique architecture allows the battery to not only charge in 10 minutes, but also maintain a high cycle life. Currently, we can use the same chemistry to improve the battery performance, but more importantly, we can accelerate the development of the automotive industry roadmap.”
Enovix has a three-year program funded by the Department of Energy. The plan is to pair 100 percent active silicon anodes with EV-grade cathode materials. The company recently announced that its battery has surpassed 1,000 cycles while retaining 93 percent of its capacity.
Tests also showed that the Enovix battery suffered minimal capacity loss after six months at high temperatures. The pairing is expected to give the Enovix battery more than 10 years of life.
