VinFast on track to produce electric cars in the U.S. in 2024

According to foreign media reports, Le Thi Thu Thuy, CEO of Vietnameseelectric carmaker VinFast, said the company is expected to start producing electric vehicles in the United States in July 2024.

Thuy said in an interview on the sidelines of the Qatar Economic Forum that the company could begin construction of its North Carolina plant as planned this September.VinFast is the automotive division of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup JSC.

Thuy said VinFast is now facing "challenging" market conditions, saying: "We will start looking for opportunities, but we are still waiting." public offering (IPO).

The Vietnamese electric car maker has already set up its U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles and a research and development center in San Francisco.The company's electric vehicles are little known outside of Vietnam, but they have ambitious goals: to deliver as many as 1 million vehicles worldwide within the next five to six years.Thuy said the goal "is achievable."

Not long ago, VinFast also announced that it will open at least 50 stores across Europe, including Germany, France and the Netherlands.
