Continental Group and Horizon joint venture named Continental Smart Drive, the product may be the first Xiaomi car

On June 23, Continental officially announced the latest progress of its joint venture with Horizon, Continental Smart Driving (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Continental Smart Driving).

At present, Continental has launched the first cost-effective 8-megapixel multi-function front-view camera, as well as a domain controller equipped with a car-level AI chip, and has won fixed-point projects from many companies.

According to Continental's previous application for Gasgoo 2022Gold Series Award- Top 100 New Automotive Supply Chain Information in China, the 8-megapixel smart front-view camera is developed based on the Horizon Journey® 3 chip and can support 1V1R, 1V2R, 1V3R, 1V4R, Different assisted driving compatible solutions such as 1V5R help realize functions such as AEB, FCW, ACC, and TJA.

Continental has developed a 5R1V multi-sensor fusion system based on the 8-megapixel smart camera and its self-developed fifth-generation forward millimeter-wave radar (long-range radar) and corner radar (short-range radar). The mass production order of a high-profile new car-making force in China will help the new car-making force to build an L2-level autonomous driving mass production project.It is understood that this solution is planned to be put into production in 2024 on the firstelectric carof the new power company .

At present, the new car-making forces that have received a lot of attention in China and have not yet launched their first products mainly include Jidu Automobile and Xiaomi Automobile, but Jidu has repeatedly stated that its first mass-produced car robot is planned to be launched in 2023. Delivery, so it is a bold guess that the new car brand here may be a Xiaomi car.Moreover, Xiaomi Auto also stated that the first car will be rolled off the assembly line and mass-produced in 2024.

On April 11 this year, Xiaomi Auto's vehicle manufacturing base in Yizhuang New City, Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone has officially started construction, and willbuilda vehicle factory with an annual output of 300,000 vehicles in two phases.The first phase is scheduled to be completed in June 2023, the second phase project will start in March 2024, and will be completed in March 2025. The annual output of the first and second phases is 150,000 vehicles.
