According to foreign media reports, Toyota has announced a global recall of 2023 bZ4X models because the hub bolts on the wheels may become loose while driving, causing the entire wheel to fall off.Toyota has warned owners not to drive their vehicles until the hazard is resolved.
Toyota submitted a recall application to Japan's Ministry of Transportation. The recall involves a total of 2,700 bZ4Xs, of which 2,200 were sold in Europe, 280 in North America, 20 in Canada, 110 in Japan and 60 in the rest of Asia. It's important to note that most vehicles have yet to be delivered to consumers.
Japan's safety regulator said sharp turns and sudden braking could cause hub bolts to loosen, increasing the risk of wheels falling off.The agency said it had not identified any incidents caused by the flaw.Toyota said the cause of the loose wheel bolts was still under investigation and advised consumers to notify their local authorized Toyota dealer, who would pick up the car for free and provide a replacement vehicle.
A Toyota spokesman said all of the vehicles recalled in Japan had not been delivered to consumers and were only used for test drives and demonstrations.KINTO, a subsidiary that provides rental services for Toyota, has also cancelled promotional test drives in three Japanese cities due to safety concerns.
In response, Toyota China responded that the bZ4X model has not yet started production and sales in mainland China, so the recall does not involve the Chinese market. In addition, the GAC Toyota bZ4X, which was originally scheduled to be launched on June 17, has been temporarily postponed, and the specific launch time is to be determined.
Meanwhile, Subaru also announced a global recall of 2,600 Solterra vehicles on the same day.The Solterra is the first pureelectric vehiclejointly developed by Subaru and Toyota , and the reason for the recall is the possibility of loose wheel bolts.A Subaru spokesman said most of the vehicles recalled by Subaru were sent to dealerships, and deliveries of the vehicles in the U.S. have not yet begun.
