Honda said an investigation showed that de-icer and other debris had accumulated on the rear frame where the fuel tank was mounted, possibly causing corrosion and separation of the mounting strip. If the fuel tank is damaged, there may be a risk of fuel leakage and fire.

Honda said in a statement on June 21 that it had not received any reports of fuel leaks or injuries related to the defect.Remedial action will be determined based on the degree of corrosion in the frame, and Honda will "discuss buying back the vehicle on a case-by-case basis."The company notified dealers on June 17 and will start notifying owners on August 1.
