Genesis is delaying the launch of the electric version of the G80 sedan after it was scheduled to go on sale this spring, media reported.Genesis did not disclose the reason for the delay, but said more information on pricing and sale dates would not be announced until late summer and early fall.

On June 22, Genesis' official website also revealed that the electric sedan "will be available in spring 2022," which will be produced at the Ulsan plant in South Korea alongside the gasoline-powered G80 and GV80 crossovers.

A global chip shortage and other supply chain bottlenecks have disrupted production at several brands.Recently, the production of car companies in Asia has been severely affected, especially in China, where strict epidemic control has affected the production work of car companies and suppliers.

With 19-inch wheels, the electric version of the G80 will have a range of 282 miles (453 kilometers) on a single charge, but it's unclear what size wheels Genesis will equip the car with.

The car will be the second pureelectric vehiclefrom Genesis , which plans to roll out only electric cars from 2025 and phase out sales of gasoline-powered vehicles by 2030 in order to achieve "100 percent electrification."
