Hyundai unveils Ioniq 6 preview, official debut this week

After releasing concept sketches last week, Hyundai Motor has released the first actual photos of its upcoming electric car, the Ioniq 6,media reported.Of course, these images only show some of the details of the car, and the full picture of the Ioniq 6 will be officially revealed at the official unveiling event later this week.

The preview released by Hyundai shows the vehicle's bumper, alloy wheels, pixelated LED lighting and side cameras that replace traditional mirrors (this configuration is only available in countries where it is legally permitted).

Like the Ioniq 5 crossover, the Ioniq 6 features a Parametric Pixel light design, with pixel LED lights on the third brake light and a vertical reflector at the rear.Of course, the headlights and taillights also feature the same design, but Hyundai hasn't released pictures of them.

Compared to the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 is designed with more curves, which is the same as the previous Prophecy Concept.Photos of the C-pillar show the Ioniq 6 with a sloping roofline designed to improve aerodynamics.In addition, to further reduce air resistance, the Ioniq 6 also features retractable door handles.

In terms of powertrains, Hyundai hasn't revealed much, and the only certainty right now is that it will share Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP electric vehicleplatformwith the Ioniq 5 and Genesis GV60 .The E-GMP is Hyundai's second EV-specific platform, capable of offering single-motor and dual-motor configurations, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, respectively.
