2022 Toyota Camry adds Nightshade trim to hybrid lineup

After significantly adding TRD trims and all-wheel drive for 2020,Toyotahas made small but numerous tweaks to the 2021 Camry formula.The 2021 model ditches the base L trim and adds the XSE trim, combining the SE's sporty looks and suspension, and steering with some of the XLE's premium interior features.The different trims have revised front fascias so they can be differentiated for those following the Camry's design.Toyotahas added its latestToyotaSafety Sense driver-assistance suite with access to features such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams and rear Reminders for functions such as seats.

The big news for 2022 is that Toyota is offering the Nightshade package forthe CamryHybrid; previously, it was only available on non-hybrid trims.Nightshade finished the window trim, badges, door handles, mirror caps and shark fin antenna in black, and set the sedan on 18-inch black alloys.Prices for the regular and hybrid range in 2022, and the price difference after a $1,075 destination charge, compared to when it launches in 2021, are:

Elsewhere in the range, the LE and XLE's front fascia has been redesigned to look different from the vented honeycomb grille on the SE and XSE.The Ice Edge exterior color, once exclusive to the TRD V6, is now available on LE, SE and XSE trims, replacing the soon-to-be-disappearing Galactic Aqua.The new exclusive color for the TRD V6 is Calvary Blue with a black roof.Dual-zone climate control is standard on all trims except the TRD V6, which sticks with three-zone control.LE and SE trims come with standard heated side mirrors.

EveryCamrygets Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, an upgrade over the previous package with intersection support, detection of oncoming vehicles or pedestrians when turning left, and controlled when avoiding vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists Features like emergency steering assist for the input. Adaptive cruise control has also been enhanced, which automatically accelerates when the driver activates the turn signal and turns the wheels to overtake slower vehicles.
