TwoLamborghiniUrus crossovers have completed their month-long tour.As a marketing stunt, the pair traveled more than 4,000 miles, collecting some truly breathtaking scenery along the way.
The idea of driving long distances to promote a new car is a long-standing tradition. This was an even bigger achievement in the 1960s, when the highway system was just taking off. Many local roads are still rough and it is widely believed that cars are driven at full speed at high speeds for sustained periods of time.
It's not particularly difficult for any modern car to do such a long haul these days, especially when you're talking about a 641-horsepower, 626-pound-feet luxury SUV.In fact, you have to be quite restrained when tuning the 4.0-liter V8, which tops out at 190 mph, as the top speed is limited to around 75 mph, and there are speed cameras everywhere.
Still,Lamborghinihad a chance to snap some pretty pictures along the way.Compared with the ancient shrines and lush bamboo forests, Urus almost seems out of place. They even stopped to photograph Himeji Castle in Bizen City and Shirakawa Village in Gifu Prefecture, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From snow-capped mountains to rocky coastlines, from cherry blossom avenues to giant steel bridges connecting the islands, the changing backdrop is worth seeing.
The two Urus vehicles used on the tour are finished in Giallo Inti (yellow) and Blu Astraeus (dark blue), both with a customizableLamborghinipaint option called Pearl Capsule.Created by Lamborghini's Centro Stile design department, it basically adds a black finish to the roof, spoiler and front air dam.Cabin-wise, the Pearl Capsule adds two shades, with hexagonal stitching on the seats featuring carbon fiber and black anodized aluminum detailing throughout the interior. The option is also available with Arancio Borealis (orange) and Verde Mantis (green) exterior colors.
The trip starts on the remote western island of Kyushu and follows the sea along the northern coast all the way to the northernmost island of Hokkaido. It then winds its way down the Pacific coast to its final destination, Tokyo.
