Skoda reveals the first interior details of the Skoda Kushaq

SkodaIndia has revealed the first interior details of theSkodaKushaq, a new small SUV that will debut later this month before going on sale in India.

The interior of the production-spec SUV appears to have taken inspiration from the Skoda Vision IN SUV concept shown at the Auto Expo last year.

Like the car, the Kushaq is expected to be based on a localized version of the small car platform (MQB AO IN) that underlies theSkodaScala, Volkswagen and Polo hatchbacks.

Unlike the two aforementioned models, however, theKushaqis unlikely to be driven on Australian roads.

It's worth mentioning that its standalone touchscreen is 10 inches long and provides a list of connectivity, navigation and other features.One side of the center screen will flank the virtual cockpit inside the dashboard.

Elsewhere, theKushaqhas a layered dash that uses a thin chrome strip to separate the top and bottom and join the generous chrome-lined air vents.

The dash, door panels, and center console make extensive use of splashes of orange, giving theKushaq asleek and stylish look.

Elsewhere, the Kushaq's steering wheel features a knurled scroll wheel and buttons for navigating various phone, infotainment and cruise control functions.

Power for the Kushaq comes from 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter gasoline drivetrains, which can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a torque converter/dual-clutch automatic, depending on the engine.

Skoda Kushaq is expected to offer drip feed ahead of its global launch on March 18 European time.

"The Skoda Kushaq will be officially launched later this month, the first of four models under the Skoda and Volkswagen brands, as part of the India 2.0 product plan," said the automaker's press release.

"These vehicles are produced locally in India and are based on the MQB-A0-IN version of the Volkswagen Group's modular cross-car kit, which Skoda Auto has adapted especially for India."
