Ford recalls 100,000 vehicles in U.S.

According to foreign media reports, Ford said on July 8 that it will launch a new recall of 100,000 hybrid vehicles in the United States due to the risk of fire, and expand the previous recall after a series of fire incidents. .

The new recall covers 2020-2022 Ford Escape, Maverick and Lincoln Corsair models powered by the 2.5-liter hybrid/plug-in hybrid engine.In the event of a malfunction, the engine could release large amounts of engine oil and fuel vapors that could build up near the ignition source, potentially causing a fire under the hood, Ford said.

Dealers will repair the lower engine guards and active grille shutters to address safety concerns.Ford has not received reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue, and customers are not required to park their vehicles outdoors.

Separately, the company has expanded its recall for the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator to address the risk of fires under the hood.In May, Ford announced a recall of 39,000 vehicles, and the company has now expanded the recall to 27,000.Ford received an injury report related to this defect.

Ford is still advising those owners to park their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings until the defect is fixed.These vehicles are still at risk of fire even when stopped and turned off.

Ford said it has supplied recalled parts for about one-third of vehicles with 800-watt cooling fan systems, but won't be able to supply all parts for vehicles with 700-watt cooling fan systems until September.The company believes the vehicle fires can be traced back to the pandemic, when a supplier changed production locations.
