Sortera Alloys raises $10M to advance end-of-life recycling of automotive metal

According to foreign media reports, Sortera Alloys, an innovative industrial scrap metal sorting and recycling company powered by AI, imagery, data analysis and advanced sensors, announced that it has received $10 million in funding led by Assembly Ventures and from Breakthrough Energy Ventures. and additional funding from Novelis.Sortera is dedicated to providing solutions for end-of-life recycling in the aluminium industry.

Sortera's artificial intelligence technology allows existing mixed alloy aluminium scrap streams to be separated back into individual alloys.The upgraded metal can then be recycled into the highest-value applications, from automotive castings and flat rolled products to extrusions for construction and aerospace materials.The company's low-cost, scalable production process enables customers to reduce their CO2 emissions and achieve sustainable and circular production goals, as recycled aluminum production requires approximately 95 percent less energy than aluminum produced from virgin raw materials.
